Edward proposed to Bella on more than one occassion, but she politely refused each time. She still felt they were too young for such a commitment. Although they are still happily in love, there has yet to be a wedding or Cullen baby and Bella is still a fragile human.
The townsfolk in Forks, Washington started becoming suspicious of the Cullens, especially Carlisle. He was still just as young and handsome as he had always been. So to avoid any further attention, the family and Bella packed up their things and headed for St. Francisville, Louisiana, located north of Baton Rouge in West Feliciana Parish. Jacob and the other werewolves were left behind, as well as Charlie, but Bella knew it was best for her to be with Edward.
The town is cute by day, but the Cullens quickly discover it is much different by night. There is already a head coven of vampires in the area named the Belviews who drink human blood. They have their own rules and their own standards, and have managed to remain under the Volturi's radar for many years.
So, why is there a need for a head coven you ask? Well, the town is actually home to many vampires and the humans are well aware of this fact, but they certainly live in fear, wondering if they could become the next meal. They were relieved to find out about a new development of synthetic blood called Crimson

This leads us to the present time, approximately two months after the Cullens arrival. The Belviews were not happy to hear about another coven moving in, but they managed to strike a treaty with the Cullens. They could stay in St. Francisville if they were able to mind their own business about the happenings in the quiet little Louisiana town.
Will the Cullens honor the treaty and remain silent about the killings of humans or will they fight for power over the town? What will happen to Jacob and the rest of the werewolves? Will the Volturi pay a visit and see that Bella is still human? Will Bella finally say 'yes'? What other supernatural beings go bump in the night here?
