Damon is a genuinely good guy. Being a counselor at a high school, it's built into his brain to want to help people when they have a problem. If there is anything he can do to help, he'll bust his ass to get it done. He gets really pissed off when things go south and he knows that he might have been able to prevent it. He's a great listener and usually gives pretty good advice. Very good shoulder to cry on without prying or getting in your face. He is very sweet and is the kind of guy to hold doors open and push in your chair. He's got an infinite amount of patience and an iron will that keeps his personal feelings in check at work, but outside of school he can get a bit touchy at times. Usually that happens when he's tired and really just wants to crash on the couch but discovered that Nora cleaned out the fridge and there is absolutely nothing in the house. Meaning that he has to go shopping and of course it's when he's exhausted that traffic sucks and the stupid drivers are out and well, you get the idea. Speaking of that loverly sister, he's crazy protective over her. Like, words cannot describe it. After loosing both of their parents suddenly, he's pretty gun shy when it comes to his sister. But she's the same way about him so it kind of works out. They are both hypocrites and get angry at each other for keeping tabs, but feel it is perfectly okay for themselves to do so. Damon's best quality though, is he's a goof and is the first one to make a fool of himself. Whether it's for fun and laughs, or to cheer up one of his kids, he doesn't mind being the butt of the jokes.[/size][/blockquote]

Damon was born in Homestead, Florida, about two hours south of Wellington. His parents were college sweethearts, but they didn't marry until a few years after. They were both in their early thirties when Damon was born and the two were very happy with their little boy. Elliot was a psychiatrist and Charlotte stayed at home with Damon until he started school and she went back to work as a therapist. With the jobs they had, the Riley's had a good amount of money and Damon, while not spoiled and privileged, he didn't want for anything. A few weeks after Damon's tenth birthday, his younger sister Nora was born; the very definition of an 'oops baby'. Life went on after that, but everything changed during the summer between Damon's sophomore and junior years of college. The Riley's had packed up their car and were on their way to the beach for a weekend vacation. About a half hour after their departure, they pulled into a gas station to fill up the tank and buy some snacks for the road. Sometimes, Damon still can't believe what happened that day. It was like something you would see on television or in the movies. A couple of shady looking guys walked into the small store and before you knew what was happening, they were waving guns around and shots were fired. Damon refuses to talk about what happened that day, but the short version is by the time the dust settled, Charlotte Riley was dead. Elliot had been out in the parking lot with the car, but Damon and Nora had been inside. The only silver lining was that because Damon and his sister were at the time separated from their mother, Damon was able to push Nora down and cover her so she didn't get hit or see anything. But Damon saw it all. Life went down hill after that very fast. Within a couple of weeks after Charlotte's death, Elliot had crawled into a bottle and would never come out again. He was dead a year later and Damon finished his senior year of college mostly through correspondence with his professors so that he could be home with Nora. Social Services attempted to take Nora from him and place her with a foster family, but Damon wouldn't have any of it and fought tooth and nail to keep his girl with him. He's raised her on his own ever since. The two stayed in Homestead until three and a half years ago when they moved up to Wellington. Damon was offered a job at a high school as a counselor. Yup, it runs in the family.[/size][/blockquote]
