`RULES & INFORMATION
GENERAL
- Respect Kaylee and Molly Parker as they are the owners of Coventry Hills and have the right to ban anyone if they feel it is necessary.
- Please don't be rude, use common courtesy when posting meaning no racism, sexism, teasing etc.
- This game's soul focus is on hunters, equitation and jumpers so please have a least a bit of a firm understanding on all three disciplines.
- Members are asked to keep posts at least 250 words, more is even better! Honestly we aren't asking for a lot and it really helps others who are posting with you.
- You may join as many characters as you wish, please remember you must join a new account for each character, which can get a little complicated. Just keep track of everything!
- Impress everyone by having a nice avatar and signature! It honestly goes a long way. =]
- We allow younger characters on the game, but Coventry Hills is geared towards older teenage and adult characters.
JOINING
- To join simply fill out the application form under the joining forum.
- Characters and horses can be any age you want, but realize that there are certain showing restrictions for people and horses.
- Make sure you include some detail, that makes a post better and more enjoyable for everyone to read.
- Remember - flaws make people human, so no mary-sues or gary-stus! No perfect people allowed.
- No godmoding or powerplaying.
- You cannot use the same celebrity to portray your character as anyone else. To see the taken celeb list, go here: click.
- Please wait to be accepted by Molly or Kaylee before beginning to rp.
- You may only join as humans, horses are RPed by their owners.
- First, please post your member information in the format of the joining application and post it in a new thread on the joining board.
- After you've been accepted, you can make a thread in the 'member info' section detailing your characters, horses, show results, points, etc. This is all up to you; you don't have to make a list of your items but it's highly recommended to keep track of everything.
- You can make your 'member info' thread in any style you want - it doesn't matter to us! Whatever's best for you.
- Once you have been accepted, if you want to make a new character you don't have to write a sample post for the new character.
HORSES
- Each character may own three horses at the very maximum. It is suggested that not every character owns three, in reality not everyone can afford to keep that many horses.
- Horses can be any breed, but please try to keep them realistic to the hunter/jumper/eq scene. You don't very often see an Andalusian or a Saddlebred on the show grounds.
- Be realistic about horses stats. Make the horses have flaws in their personalities such as being stubborn, spooky, or has problems with the left lead. Flaws make for more realism!
- Be realistic about your horse's age, color, height, etc. There are no 17hh Welsh Ponies, there are no purple Thoroughbreds, and realistically an extremely elderly horse wouldn't be able to get over a course of 5 foot fences.
- Stallions can only be ridden by riders over eighteen, pony stallions can only be ridden by riders over fourteen.
- Keeping in stallions in mind, lets try not to have a hundred of them running around, in reality there are very few stallions strutting around the show grounds, geldings and mares are much more popular.
- Horses must be over three to show in under saddle classes, over four to show in over fences and under twenty to show at all.
- If you want your character to own a stallion, broodmare or foal, please keep all posts in the breeding barn. If you wish to breed a mare to one of the Coventry stallions or put a private stallion up for stud in the Coventry breeding barn, please drop a note in the office and the owners will review your request and let you know if it has been approved.
- There can only be 5 horses for outside stud at any time.
- Horses age every REAL year, every January 1st. PLEASE DO NOT ALTER THE AGE OF ANY OF YOUR HORSES.
- I find it ridiculous that people want to keep changing their horse's stats. When you join your character, MAKE ALL NECESSARY HORSES/ ETC BEFORE YOU JOIN. Once you are accepted, your application will be locked.
- If you want to get more horses, ASK THE ADMINS FIRST. Does it sound realistic to you to have random horses just popping up everywhere? No. So ask first, because Briar is tired of getting walked all over, and it's not fair to the other members who DO follow the rules.
LIFE AT COVENTRY
- Life at Coventry Hills is quite amazing, of course it isn't always rainbows and butterflies.
- The farm is owned by two sisters, Kaylee and Molly Parker. Kaylee is the resident trainer, while Molly still shows several horses.
- All riders who are part of Coventry Hills must train with Kaylee, unless you are given permission to do otherwise.
- Horses can be shown by the owners, or owners can hire Kaylee or Molly to ride their horses.
- To book a lesson or training period with either of the sisters please post in the office.
- All barn activities must take place somewhere on Coventry Hills such as riding, schooling, trail rides, grooming etc.
- We have boards for the town that allow riders to get away from the farm and have some fun as well.
- People age every REAL year, every January 1st. PLEASE DO NOT ALTER THE AGE OF ANY OF YOUR CHARACTERS.
- If for some reason you feel the need to create a pregnancy plot, and someone's popping out babies, PLEASE check with BRIAR OR ALLI FIRST! We don't want a million screaming children running around the farm now do we?
COMPETITIONS
- Competitions are an essential part of Coventry Hills!
- When a competition is held, the administrators (Kaylee or Molly) will start threads. One is a class list, so you can see what you want to enter. Next is entries, where you have a week or so to enter your horses in divisions. Lastly, the results will be posted within a week of the end of the competition.
- The results are decided by random generator, which saves player's muse! Yay for saving muse! The only shows that are now written outright to decide results are Nationals.
- We encourage everyone to take part in the competitions.
- Competitions will take place every two REAL weeks, ie: March 1st, March 14th, etc.
- The point breakdown for placings in shows are as follows:
1st - 10 points
2nd - 9 points
3rd - 8 points
4th - 7 points
5th - 6 points
6th - 5 points
7th - 4 points
8th - 3 points
9th - 2 points
10th - 1 point - However many points you gain per show puts you on the track to compete in the year-end nationals, held at Coventry Hills itself.
- There are 12 competitions in a 'year', every two weeks. At the end of 12 competitions, Nationals at Coventry will be held.
- Only players with 75 points or more may compete in nationals. You are expected to keep track of your own points and results, WE WILL NOT DO THIS FOR YOU. However, we will be watching so don't dare inflate your point score; all scores will be checked before nationals to make sure no one has been cheating.
- The competitions take place every two weeks in real time, and the game operates in real time as well. If you miss days or weeks, just pick up as if you had been RPing that whole time and fill in the blanks.
- When entering a competition, you must enter divisions. When a class list is posted in one of the competition areas and the 'entry list' goes up, you may enter your horses in whichever divisions you wish (up to 3 only), as long as you/your horse fit the requirements.
- Classes in a show must have 2 entries to run. If they don't have enough entries, they won't run - no big deal.
- The class list will be the same for each show so people can always enter the same division(s).
- A horse can only enter three divisions per show, NO more. Let's try to keep it realistic here people. Any more divisions than that and we'd have dead horses on our hands.
RECORD KEEPING
- You are in charge of keeping track of your characters and their horses.
- Please post threads, in the Member Information forum, that include whatever information you feel is necessary.
- We suggest you keep track of your characters, name, age, occupation, etc. Their horses should all be part of the post and include the horse's name, age, discipline, division, points etc. The more specific the better!
- You are more than welcome to have images and/or websites for your horses, but we do suggest that you check with the photo's owner before using it. We don't want any copyright issues!
- A great website to look for nice horse photos is The Chronicle of the Horse. They are mostly free, but please make sure to credit the photographer!
